NAPIS® Utilities: Setup Latitude-Longitude
The data entry preference set for latitude-longitude controls the version of the dialog that opens through the Geographic Position 'Set' button on the Site Data Records.

Degrees: minutes: seconds is common for interpretation on topographical maps.
DEGREES: MINUTES: THOUSANDTHS OF MINUTES
Degrees: minutes: thousandths of minutes is the typical format displayed on a GPS (global positioning system) device used to obtain a position while working in the field. It is important to note that GPS devices have a series of default settings that include not only the display of the latitude-longitude position but also the map datum, which may affect your geographic position on the ground.

Degrees: decimal degrees is used for storing latitude-longitude positions in GIS (geographic information systems) and is the format that NAPIS saves all geographic positions in.
